Guest Speaker #1: Gabriel Harris

Gabriel is a crucial member of Meinl’s cymbal design team, and has given critical input into all of your favorite Meinl cymbals. He will be giving a short talk on how manipulating the physical attributes of a cymbal affects the cymbal’s sound, making us all more effective when choosing our next cymbal (especially when shopping online).

Guest Speaker #2: Michael Shadlen

Professor Shadlen is a neuroscientist at Columbia University. He is one of the most famous and influential neuroscientists in the world, as well as a jazz guitarist, and will be speaking to us about what is happening in the brain when we make the decisions that underly improvisation.

And, of course, JP!

To celebrate the content from the year, JP will be performing a drum solo exclusively using content taught in this year’s courses. This will be followed by a short discussion on the creative decisions that went on “under the hood” while playing the solo.

Dec 11, 1pm EST

The event will take place on Zoom. The link and password will be emailed to the email list and posted in the Facebook Group in advance.
